This unforgettable day in the mountains aboard the little train to Artouste, at an altitude of 2,000 meters, combines scenic exploration with breathtaking views at a must-see destination in the Pyrenees.
Depart from Pau by coach with your tour guide to the Ossau Valley, specifically the upper Ossau Valley, heading toward Lake Fabrèges (1,240 m). Take the cable car up to the station and enjoy a breathtaking view of the famous Pic du Midi d’Ossau, the emblem of Béarn and Pau, even featured in its logo. Board the Train d’Artouste, Europe’s highest narrow-gauge tourist train.
An unforgettable journey along the mountainside, through the glacial valley of Soussouéou, a popular summer destination for shepherds. Upon arrival, a short walk leads to the lake and its impressive dam (1,989 m). Free time in this unique, mineral-rich setting. Return, then lunch. On the way to Pau, visit a typical Ossalois village, then stop at the Jurançon cooperative winery in Gan for a tour and tasting.
Return to Pau in the late afternoon.
